MOEA mulling exclusive office for industrial cooperation with Japan
2012/02/10 Taipei, Feb. 10 (CNA) The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said Friday it is planning to set up an office in March exclusively for industrial cooperation between Taiwan and Japan. The office will handle individual applications and serve as a platform to ensure smooth inter-ministerial communication in all matters of industrial cooperation between the two sides, the MOEA's Industrial Development Bureau said. Taiwan's representative offices in Japan will also provide related services, it added. Sources from the ministry said Japanese businesses in the fields of information and communication technology, aerospace, information service, digital content and biotechnology have expressed interest in cooperating with Taiwan. A 73.6-hectare Taiwan-Japan industrial innovation park will be opened in the Tainan Technology Industrial Park (TTIP) and the Southern Taiwan Science Park to attract Japanese investors, according to the bureau. Since the initiative was announced Jan. 6, six Japanese businesses have made inquiries about space in the TTIP, the bureau said.
