Taiwan's Pharmaceutical Makers See Sound Exports This Year 2012/09/14 Taipei, Sept. 14, 2012 (CENS)--Major pharmaceutical makers in Taiwan are receiving export orders this year, especially from Japan, Europe and the U.S. Genovate Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Sinphar will begin shipments to Japan in the late third quarter or early fourth quarter. Yung Shin Pharm. Ind. Co., Ltd.`s oral suspension agent recently won the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) certification, and will export its first batch of US$900,000 of products to an American client, saying it aims to achieve export revenue of NT$500 million (US$16.7 million) this year, a 20% year-on-year (YoY) increase and to account for about 13% of overall income. Thanks to global supply shortage of injection agents, Nang Kuang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.`s net earnings grew about 480% YoY in the first half. Y.B. Wang, Nang Kuang`s president, expressed optimism towards exports this year, due to having won orders from a Japanese drug brand and major generic-drug maker in the U.S.. The Taiwanese company has applied for U.S. FDA factory certification in June and expects to be certified by the second quarter of 2013. If things go smoothly, Nang Kuang will begin exports to the U.S. in late 2013. Sinphar has tied up with major Japanese pharmaceutical company Daito in cancer-drug development, and will begin exporting the first batch of anti-cancer oral tablets to a Japanese customer in the late third quarter or fourth quarter this year, with annual shipments to be at least three million tablets. Genovate`s PIC/S (Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention and Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme) GMP-certified drug factory will begin shipments of contract-produced products to a Japanese pharmaceutical company in the fourth quarter, with revenues from such order to account for 50% of overall income in 2013.(by Quincy Liang)
