Gov't should provide IP rights support program

 AmCham By Linger Liu , The China Post March 23, 2013, 12:04 am TWNTAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Taiwanese government should develop a scheme to foster and protect the nation's industrial innovations, said an AmCham Taipei press release yesterday.The engine for future economic growth will be the value inherent in innovation, including those applicable in various industries such as media, art and scientific inventions, said AmCham. Without proper systems, creativity cannot be rewarded. This in turn stifles innovation, the press release said. AmCham said proper systems allow innovations to develop into products and services that enrich lives and strengthen economies.

Patent Law Renew In response to the nation's system of protecting intellectual property, the nation's future patent law is set to proceed with amendments to the Patent Act, according to the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO). The nation has been promoting biotechnology, green technology and refined agriculture, hoping to benefit from developments in this area, said TIPO.TIPO said the nation is planning to increase manpower and resources as part of promoting a report system between patent examiners and patent search staff. Increasing the transparency of patent examinations will be the nation's future aim, said TIPO, adding that Taiwan will introduce methods employed by foreign counterparts. Such improvements will be aimed at resolving patent disputes more effectively, balancing the interests of both patent holders and the public, said TIPO. Taiwan will also maintain close communications with the Intellectual Property Court so as to foster consensus and provide all necessary administrative supports in facilitating faster resolution of disputes, said TIPO.
