2011/12/21 Taipei, Dec. 21 (CNA) Taiwan's top research institution held a herbal medicine conference in southern Taiwan Wednesday, hoping to facilitate technology transfer and creating partnerships between researchers and the private sector. Eighteen of Taiwan's latest biotechnology innovations were on display at the "Life Science and Herbal Medicine Technology Conference," according to Academia Sinica. Aside from herbal medicine, discoveries in the fields of biofuel, enzyme development, vaccines, tissue engineering, and agriculture were also presented. The event, held in Tainan, offered an opportunity for businesses to interact with 20 scholars and specialists nationwide. As of Wednesday morning, 35 businesses and over 100 representatives had attended the session, according to Academia Sinica.
