11 October, 2012 12:11:00 Stoires by Sibonginkosi Mamba HIS Majesty King Mswati III says the Royal Science and Biotechnology Park has a great potential of generating billions into the national coffers.The king was speaking through his representative, Prince Masitsela yesterday evening during the celebrations of the National Day of the Republic of China, Taiwan at Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre yesterday evening. Taiwan was celebrating 101 years of Independence.The king lauded the Taiwanese for the support in the building of the park stating he believed that it could help attract investments into the country. "We are aware that the Asian region has a lot of expertise in this area. We hope to tap from your vast experience," the King said. Further, His Majesty thanked Taiwan for the provision of electricity in rural areas.He noted that such initiative had empowered Swazis handsomely. "Many of our people have ventured into small and medium enterprises thus generating wealth for themselves at grassroots level," the king observed. He highlighted that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries had stimulated different developmental programmes and projects hence Swaziland would remain grateful to her friends.The king stated that he was hopeful that more support would be extended to the Kingdom since Swaziland was still recovering from the global economic meltdown.
'President Ma's visit inspired Swazis to exercise'THE King yesterday asked Taiwan Ambassador to the country, Peter Tsai to pass the country's appreciation to the President Ma Ying-jeou for his state visit in April.His Majesty said the president's visit was a clear demonstration of the strong friendly relations that existed between the two countries. "Ever since he came many families have since been encouraged to take physical fitness as a priority and this shall help the nation keep healthy thus reducing visits to the doctor," the king enthused. His Majesty said the president's visit was not only an inspiration but it also triggered the relations and friendship to greater heights. Further the king applauded the move by the United States of America to include Taiwan as one of visa waiver countries. indication"This is a clear indication that Taiwan deserves to play a key role in the affairs of the global community. He also thanked the Taiwan business community in the country for making a tremendous investment that had created many jobs for the people of Swaziland. "We encourage you to make more investments in the kingdom and please be our ambassadors in inviting more entrepreneurs from ROC on Taiwan to open shop at Eswatini," the king urged.
Together we can pull through - TsaiTAIWAN Ambassador to Swaziland Peter Tsai said he was optimistic that by working together Swaziland and his country could overcome the economic challenges. Tsai stated that Taiwan had not been spared by the global recession hence the economic situation there was not good. To exacerbate the situation, Taiwan was hit by a number of natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes which he said caused a lot of pain and suffering for the Taiwanese people. "However, I am optimistic that both countries will be able to overcome the situation by working together and continuing to support each other because when difficult times come, all of us should pool our resources and work together to overcome the challenge," he advised. He also emphasised that Taiwan was continuing to make efforts to participate meaningfully in the United Nations and its agencies. support "In this regard the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) deeply appreciates His Majesty's and the government of Swaziland's strong support for Taiwan's efforts over the past years especially during the annual UN General Debate."Once again this year His Majesty King Mswati III in his speech on September 26, 2012 during the UN General Debate voiced out support for Taiwan," Tsai noted.
