Zero tariff for 94% products from Taiwan from 2012

News came from Ningbo Customs on January 2 that according to the cross-strait ECFA, the second phase of tariff reduction for cargo trade early harvest products started from January 1, 2012. It is said that besides the 30 items whose tariff will be reduced from 15% to 5%, over 94% of the total early harvest products will assume zero tariff. In terms of specific categories, zero tariff will be achieved for all the imported products from Taiwan in metallurgy, medicine, instruments and car accessories. Besides, most agricultural products and most products in light industry, chemical industry, textile, electronic and machinery will also achieve zero tariff. As a major mainland port for trade with Taiwan, Ningbo ranks No. 1 in 2011 in terms of import goods volume with the framework of ECFA. The importers have felt the actual benefits brought about by ECFA with the import of over 130 kinds of products
